Now on iTunes

I just completed adding a cool feature for our readers to the NewEraIncome.com Blog… text-to-speech capabilities, using a new widget called Odiogo. You can now actually listen to the posts from the Blog here at the website, and even on iTunes (as well as your iPhone or iPod) as a Podcast.
If you have a blog and haven’t implemented some form of text-to-speech then you are missing the boat. One of the best features of the Web 2.0 internet is the ability to make yourself more accessible to the marketplace. And adding text-to-speech to your Blog will definitely increase its accessibility as the posts will be able to be heard on mobile devices.
Adding the text-to-speech feature to the NewEraIncome.com Blog only took a couple of minutes. Let’s take a look at how easy it is so you can add it to your blog.
- Join Odiogo.
- Download the plugin and unzip it into a temporary directory.
- Upload the directory odiogo_listen_button to your /wp-content/plugins/ directory via FTP.
- Login to your WordPress admin account.
- Click menu Plugins and Activate the Odiogo Listen Button plugin.
- Click menu Setting > Odiogo Listen Button.
- Enter your Odiogo Feed ID and click Save.
- Click menu Presentation > Widgets (or Sidebar Widgets depending on your WP version).
- Drag and drop (or click add) Odiogo Subscribe Button from Available Widgets to Sidebar.
- Click Save Changes.
It will only take a couple of minutes and your blog posts will be available to listen to on your website, as well as iPods, iPhones, and any other computers or portable device that supports MP3.
You new feed will be available in HTML, xHTML, and XML/RSS. Check out our Odiogo feed page to see the large variety of ways your readers can subscribe and listen to your new feed. They can even add the feed to their favorite reader like Google Reader or Newsgator!
Test it out for yourself by clicking on the listen now button under any article title on this blog and then join Odiogo and start giving your blog readers something to listen to on that long ride to work every morning.

The current voice does sound a little on the “robot” side but, the developer promises some additional (and more smooth sounding) voices in the future. Let me know how it works out for you.
